First Vice President of Dartford Lions Club was pleased to attend the annual Eye Camp in Punjab India organised and supported by South Woodford and Wanstead Lions Club of Essex.
Invited by Past District Governor Lion Prince Verma (from Punjab India), VP Sandhu was again overwhelmed by the progress the Lions Club of Adampur (India) and the Essex club is making to the residents of Punjab on 19th February 2020. Taking place at the Lions Eye Hospital, this was the second time the Essex Club had supported the free eye camp and this year they checked 902 patients out of which approx 222 eye operations were carried out, 6 of them were children. Other patients were given advice or medicine as required.
A team of Lions Club members from the Essex club lead by Lion President Lion Maria Sgouralis were present at the event, in her address to the gathering, she expressed how pleased she is to be representing a Club which is making a dramatic difference to the lives of the population of India.
Addressing the gathering of approx 400 people, VP Ragbhir Sandhu (Dartford Lions Club) thank past district governor Verma for the invitation and he explained to the gathering that they are very, very fortunate to have the benefit of the Punjab based Lions club, who are working in conjunction with the Essex based Lions to carry out the program at the Lions Eye Hospital in Punjab – so basically its Lions all the way through. VP Sandhu continued to say that there is nothing greater than the power of sight for anyone, he said that this should be used as a model for other clubs including his own club in Dartford Kent.
A presentation of the Lions Magazine was made to Past Dist Gov Verma (this was an issue which featured the past dist gov) and Dartford Lions Banner was also presented to the past dist gov.
Banners were exchanged between Lion President Lion Maria Sgouralis and VP Ragbhir Sandhu from Dartford Lions Club.
